100 Good Wishes Quilt

This picture doesn't do the quilt justice, but my battery died on my camera, so this is what you get for now. My sister delivered it this weekend to our 1st Family Reunion at Disney. The quilt is absolutely gorgeous and the perfect size. I'll post more pictures after I buy new batteries.

While I was gone, kitty went on a separation anxiety eating fest...

Happy Father's Day

In the same sentiment as I did with Mother's Day, I've chosen to honor my Father with a donation to A-Child's-Right Organization. They do wonderful work bringing safe drinking water to children all over the world. If you clink on the site and then click on the China 2007 link, you will see fabulous pictures of their most recent trip to the orphanages in China. The pictures are stunning and offer a glimpse into what the orphanges look like. I will not know until probably the last minute if I will be able to visit Mary Alice's orphanage; she may be in foster care, but if I get the opportunity, it will be a wonderful opportunity to visit and document her earliest days. And, if I'm really lucky, I'll be able to meet her caregiver and learn her likes/dislikes/history...you get the picture. Not every orphanage is open to allowing visits by adoptive families, nor are they all logistically in close proximity to the provincial capital. Sometimes the babies travel many hours in a bus to meet their new parents. This is why the "Gotcha Day" can be so traumatic for the children, as their surroundings and routine are changed forever. Many, if not most adoptive families celebrate this day every year, but I don't think I'll call it "Gotcha Day". I think I like the term "Forever Family Day" to mark the event and to celebrate our family.
